Elk Photos from the 1998 hunt

We generally see hunting pressure the first three days from the locals, then we have the mountains to ourselves.  We killed some good bulls, had some good days and some tough days.  Saw one elk herd with more than 100 elk in it, 20 bulls.
These are the kills but click link to get a complete Success Report of every hunter we had at camp.

Gary Krueth, Ramsey, Mn (612)421-9131  Gary is the lucky one of the Minnesota bunch.  Last time he killed the big six point bull.  This time he did it again with a heavy horned, dark antlered trophy 6 pointer.

Jim Windham, Lakeworth, Fl (561)798-2708  Jim passed up several bulls including a big 5X5.  He saw a monster 6 point bull right at dawn on opening morning but didn’t get a shot at it.  He killed a 7X5 bull on the back side of a whopper mountain.  He hit it at 380 yards several times, but he ran out of shells.  It finally died.  It took us 7 hours to cut a horse trail to it with a chain saw.  When we got there a bear had confiscated one front quarter.  Nice bear to take the least desireable piece.  We thanked him.

Bob Mills, Tracy, Ca (209)836-2858  Bob missed some long shots at a monster bull.  He hit very close to it, but didn’t get it.  Then he missed some shots at a 4 point bull at 250 yards, just out of breath.  We finally got into a herd of about a hundred elk and Bob killed a five point bull.

Larry Harris, Willcox, Az (520)384-5277  Larry saw some good six point bulls.  He killed an elk on the last day of his hunt.
Larry, please send me a picture.
John Boerschig, Katy, Tx (281)492-8406  John only had two days to hunt, odds against him, but the first day we got into some elk after riding horses all day and then a steep mountain climb.  John shot a spike, his first chance at a bull in three hunts.
John, I need a picture.
